Edward Deming is generally recognized as being the philosopher-guru of the Total Quality Movement. Deming developed a set of Fourteen Management Principles and Seven Deadly Diseases in the early 1980s. Deming advocated that all managers need to have what he called a System of Profound Knowledge, consisting of: Appreciation of a system Knowledge of variation Theory of knowledge Knowledge of psychology
